How to Check the Network Connection for the Scanner
When the scanner is connected to a network via a wired LAN, the network connection status can be checked.
Use [Check connection (Ping)] to check the status of the connection with the computer or the server.
The connection status can also be checked with Scanner Selection Tool.

On the touch screen, press
→ [Scanner Settings] → [Network] → [Check connection (Ping)].
Enter a host name or an IP address for the destination in the [Check connection (Ping)] screen.
HINTWhen entering a host name, the DNS servers need to be set on the scanner.
Press the [Run] button.
The connection test result is displayed.
Refer to the following connection test results and take measures accordingly.
"0% packet loss" shown in the test result
- Meaning
The communication with the host specified in [Host Name/IP address] is normal.
"100% packet loss" shown in the test result
- Meaning
Failed to communicate with the destination specified in [Host Name/IP address].
- Solution

[Host Name/IP address] may not be specified correctly. Make sure that the host name or the IP address is specified correctly.
If the problem persists, refer to the following section in Troubleshooting:
"99% packet loss" shown in the test result
- Meaning
Communication with the destination specified in [Host Name/IP address] is unstable.
- Solution
Refer to Cannot Connect the Scanner and a Computer via a Wired LAN and take measures accordingly.
"ping: bad address" shown in the test result
- Meaning
The name-resolution or address-resolution for the destination specified in [Host Name/IP address] may have failed.
- Solution

Make sure that [Host Name/IP address] is specified correctly.
Make sure that the DNS server settings are correct.
