Are the document pad and the document bed clean?

Solution

Clean the dirty parts.

Have you adjusted the brightness or threshold?

Solution

In the scanner driver, adjust the brightness or threshold.

Are you using a thin translucent document?

Solution

Scan the document with a white sheet placed on the back of the document.
