When the function for protecting documents (paper protection) is activated, scanning is canceled in order to protect the documents. When this occurs, the following error code appears on the LCD of the scanner's operator panel.

The function to protect documents (Paper protection) prevents documents from being damaged during scanning with the ADF by increasing the level of sensitivity to detect paper jams.

Take the following measures.

• If this error occurs, check if the document meets the requirements described in Documents for Scanning.

• If this error occurs frequently even when the document meets the requirements for scanning, disable the paper protection function.

• If documents remain in the ADF, pull the documents out of the ADF.

• If documents remain in the scanner, refer to When a Paper Jam Occurs to remove the documents.
