Switching between Document Feeding Methods

The procedures to switch between document feeding methods are as follows.

  • Switching to U-turn Scan

U-turn Scan enables you to scan documents in the following ways:

    • Documents can be scanned continuously.

    • By using Manual Continuous Mode, multiple documents can be loaded manually and scanned in succession.

    • By using Manual Single Mode, documents folded in half, envelopes, and multi-layered transfer paper with a thickness of 0.50 mm or less can be manually scanned one at a time.

When documents loaded on the hopper are scanned, the scanned documents are ejected onto the stacker.

  • Switching to Straight Scan

Straight Scan enables you to scan documents in the following ways:

    • Documents can be scanned continuously.

    • By using Manual Continuous Mode, multiple documents can be loaded manually and scanned in succession.

    • By using Manual Single Mode, envelopes or booklets with a thickness of 1.25 mm or less (thick envelopes or thin booklets) can be manually scanned one at a time.

Straight Scan enables you to scan thicker documents than with Manual Continuous Mode or Manual Single Mode with U-turn Scan, however the scanning speed is reduced.

When a document on the hopper is scanned, the scanned document is ejected from the back of the scanner.

  • Switching to Manual Continuous Mode

Manual Continuous Mode enables you to manually load more than one document and scan them in succession.

  • Switching to Manual Single Mode

When using U-turn Scan, Manual Single Mode enables you to manually scan documents folded in half, envelopes, or multi-layered transfer paper with a thickness of 0.50 mm or less one at a time.

When using Straight Scan, Manual Single Mode enables you to manually scan envelopes or booklets with a thickness of 1.25 mm or less (thick envelopes or thin booklets) one at a time.

ATTENTION

When scanning long page documents using Straight Scan while [Manual Single Mode] is enabled, the scanner may fail to completely scan documents up to the maximum length due to the resolution settings in the scanner driver.

For details about supported document lengths, refer to Did you scan long page documents while [Low-speed Feed Mode], [ECO Mode] or with [Manual Single Mode using Straight Scan] is enabled?.
