Cannot Connect the Scanner and a Computer via the USB Cable

If the problem still persists, check each item in Before You Contact the Scanner Service Provider first, then contact the distributor/dealer where you purchased this product. Refer to the contact information in the Contact List if supplied with this product, or refer to the contact information in the Contact for Inquiries section if provided in Safety Precautions supplied with this product, and then make an inquiry.
Is the USB cable connected properly?

Use the USB cable that is supplied.
Check whether the scanner and computer are connected via the USB cable.

Is the connector on the USB cable broken or damaged?
- Solution
Use a new USB cable and connect it properly.
Is the correct scanner name set for the image scanning application?
- Solution
Check whether the scanner name for a USB connection is set for the image scanning application.
Depending on the scanner driver, the scanner name that you select differs as follows.
For PaperStream IP (TWAIN)/PaperStream IP (TWAIN x64)
PaperStream IP xxx
For PaperStream IP (ISIS) fi-8000 Series
PaperStream_IP xxx
The scanner model name is shown in [xxx]. For details, refer to the help for the scanner driver.
Did you select [Auto] for the USB setting for the scanner?
- Solution
If you select [Auto] for the USB setting for the scanner, the connection between the scanner and a computer may not be able to be established.
Configure the USB settings so that the scanner operates with USB 2.0.
For fi-8190/fi-8290/fi-8170/fi-8270
Select [2: USB 2.0] in [25: USB] on the [Settings Menu] screen of the operator panel.

For fi-8150/fi-8250/fi-8150U/fi-8250U
Select [USB 2.0] in [USB] in the Software Operation Panel.
