10:Low-speed Feed Mode

Specify this to slow down the scanning speed in order to protect the documents.

When performing a scan at a low resolution (lower than 400 dpi), the scan is performed at a slow speed regardless of the resolution that is set. This setting is effective for scanning long page documents.

It can also be configured in the Software Operation Panel.

1:Enable

2:Disable

2:Disable

11:ECO Mode

When performing a scan at a low resolution (300 dpi or less), the scan is performed at a slow speed, which saves the power consumption of the scanner.

When this is enabled, the scanning speed is as follows:

  • For fi-8190/fi-8290/fi-8170/fi-8270

Scanning is performed at the same speed as performing a scan at 600 dpi.

  • For fi-8150/fi-8250/fi-8150U/fi-8250U

Scanning is performed at the same speed as performing a scan at 400 dpi.

It can also be configured in the Software Operation Panel.

12:Certification

Displays logos.

13:Doc Counting Mode

You can count the number of sheets scanned.

14:iMFF Setting

Configure the setting to automatically ignore certain patterns of overlapped documents when the setting to detect overlapped documents is enabled.

Note that you first need to specify [Check Overlapping(Ultrasonic)] or [Check Overlapping and Length] in the scanner driver and Specifying a Method to Detect Overlapped Documents [Multifeed] on the Software Operation Panel before setting this item.

By selecting [4:Clear pattern], you can clear the overlapping patterns (length, location) that were previously memorized in Auto mode.

It can also be configured in the Software Operation Panel.

It can also be configured in the Software Operation Panel.

1 to 12 (times)

3

16:Manual/Continuous Feed Setting

Configure the settings when manually loading and scanning one sheet at a time.

When you scan by manually loading one sheet at a time, you can specify the waiting time (interval) for loading the next document in the ADF paper chute (feeder). This enables continuous scanning as long as you load a document within the specified time.

If the specified time is exceeded, the scan is finished automatically.

It can also be configured in the Software Operation Panel.

1:Enable

2:Disable

2:Disable

17:Manual Feed Timeout

Specify a waiting time for scanning documents manually.

It can also be configured in the Software Operation Panel.

10

18:Paper Protection

Configure the setting to detect feeding errors.

This function detects feeding errors in the following cases:

  • When the scanner detects an abnormal document skew caused by a feeding error

  • When the scanner detects paper jam noise

Paper jams due to feeding errors could damage or tear valuable documents.

Detecting a feeding error and stopping the scan can prevent damage to documents.

This function is effective when you scan documents which are difficult to feed such as thin paper documents.

Specify the sensitivity level for detecting feeding errors when the paper protection function is enabled.

Documents are skewed abnormally or paper jam noise is made when documents are not being fed properly.

Specify the sensitivity level to detect an abnormal document skew or paper jam noise.

The paper protection setting can also be configured in the scanner driver or the Software Operation Panel.

When the paper protection setting is set to on in the scanner driver, [Feeding Skew & Noise] is enabled regardless of the setting on the Software Operation Panel.

For the paper protection setting, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. [Paper Protection] in the scanner driver

  2. [18:Paper Protection] on the [Settings Menu] screen of the operator panel (when prioritize the operator panel settings)

  3. [18:Paper Protection] on the [Settings Menu] screen of the operator panel or [Paper Protection] of the Software Operation Panel.

Sensitivity can also be configured from the Software Operation Panel.

19:Vertical streak detection

You can configure the settings for detecting dirt on the glass.

Vertical streaks may appear on images if the glass is dirty.

If [Enable] is selected for the vertical streak detection setting, the following message appears when vertical streaks appear on the image that you scanned with the ADF.

  • Icon flashes on the LCD.

[Clean glass!] also flashes on the second line in the [Ready] screen.

Check the information, and then clean the glass.

For details about how to check the information, refer to Checking the Information.

  • A message is displayed on the computer.

Check the message, and then clean the glass.

For details about cleaning, refer to Daily Care.

Specify the sensitivity level to detect vertical streaks (dirt on the glass) when [Enable] is selected for [Vertical Streak Detection].

Adjust the sensitivity level according to how dirty the glass is.

The vertical streak detection setting can also be configured in the scanner driver or on the Software Operation Panel.

Note that priority is given to the scanner driver setting.

Sensitivity can also be configured from the Software Operation Panel.

20:Prioritize panel settings

For the paper protection setting, prioritize the operator panel setting over the Software Operation Panel setting.

You cannot prioritize the setting over the scanner driver setting.

When [1:Paper Protection] is selected, the Paper Protection setting of the operator panel is prioritized.

When [2:Clear] is selected, the Paper Protection setting is no longer prioritized.
